Les Baux-de-Provence

July 9, 2018: We got up and into the town of Les Baux by 9:00am per the suggestion of our guide book. We were happy that we listened to this advice. We got a parking spot right next to the entrance to town and we were into the castle well before any crowds appeared. James and I had wandered through this town briefly in 2004 but did not visit the castle. We toured all around the castle grounds, listening to the audio guide and the kids filled out an activity book they hand out along the way. We were able to fire crossbows, watch a weapons demonstration and also got to see them launch the catapult. James volunteered to help wind up the large wheels to bring the catapult down so they could load it. We stayed at the castle for several hours and everyone enjoyed it.
Afterwards we left Les Baux and drove north to a vineyard called Domaine de Mourchon in Seguert, France. We were able to see some of their vines and where they age some of the wine and taste several. We had a nice time and the kids were so well behaved. After the vineyard stop we drove the rest of the way north to Villard-de-Lans. James and I lived in Villard for a year in '03-'04 when he played hockey there. We absolutely loved it then and we are so excited to return.
