La Franqui and Arles

July 8, 2018: Today we spent most of the day at a beach on the southern coast called La Franqui. The sun was hot but there was a strong wind blowing. We swam and played on the beach. James and Casey explored the rocky cove. We had a delicious pizza lunch and then drove into Provence. We checked into our hotel in Saint-Gilles and showered up after the beach. Then we drove into Arles to explore. We wandered through many areas where Van Gogh painted and looked at the ancient Roman arena. It is so amazing when you imagine gladiators walking in to do battle and you are standing in the very same place. As the sun set the weather got very nice. We walked along the Rhone and then found the famous bridge that Van Gogh painted. Not only were we interested in his haunts, but the kids remembered scenes from this season's "Amazing Race", when they were in Arles.
