Oklahoma City

June 19, 2013: today I got out of the tent for an early morning run in the state park. I saw a few wild turkey, white tailed deer and even a pig! Then we found a turtle on the trail near camp. We packed up camp and headed into Oklahoma City. We first went to the 45th infantry museum. So random, but it was a really impressive collection. The kids climbed on all the tanks and trucks. Inside they had a huge collection of weapons and the most interesting to us was how many artifacts they had from Hitler's apartment. Then we went into the downtown area. We made a short stop at the Oklahoma City bombing memorial. It is a beautiful memorial, very emotional, but very well done. Afterwards we found some fountains for the Kidd to cool off in. The last stop was in stockyard city where we had a meal at the famous Cattlemen's Cafe. James had the famous "lamb fries" which are fried lamb testicles! He also had a steak and Cattlemen's own brew the Double Deuce. I had a delicious burger. After a quick stop to see some cattle and pigs in the stockyards we headed west. We took a swim at a hotel pool with a splash zone and then camped out in Elk City, OK.
