Back on the Road

June 14, 2013: this morning we woke up and were trying to think of how to kill the morning when Toyota called to let us know that the car was ready. So with our new fuel pump we hit the road for Asheville, NC. The driving around here is very nice. Lots of green rolling hills. Asheville seemed like a cool area. Seemed like a hippie sort of town. The kids had fun running in fountains and bombing around while we had a picnic lunch. I'd like to spend more time there hen kids aren't involved and hear music, walk around and taste the craft beers. But we headed out into Great Smoky Mountains National Park. We went to the Smokemount campground and got a tent site. We set up camp then went for a long hike to see a waterfall. The kids were tired but did pretty well. Mostly thanks to James who lugged one or two kids at all times. The campground is set on a little river that is flowing very high and nicely now because of all the recent rain. We found a few spots to put the kids in on a tube and let them float. I would launch them and James waded in to stop them. We made Mac n cheese on our camp stove and had a fire. It was a chilly night in the mountains and nice for sleeping.
