Alabama

July 25, 2020: We have finished our first week of work here on the farm in Alabama. We have done a lot of different tasks. Most of the week was devoted to finishing up a large section of the new dock. We've fought with the beavers by breaking up their nightly work. Yesterday when we were breaking up their dam, Molly was reaching far out over the bridge and ended up falling head over heels into the swamp and was covered in mud. She took it in stride and we hosed her off. Today when we were busting up their dam I was attacked by hornets and stung twice. Man, did it hurt!! The girls finished the nameplates they made for the dog pens. In our free time we get to fool around in the shop. James is learning to weld and made some horseshoe hooks. Julia built a set of stairs and a house for the kitten. Today was our first "day off". We did some target practice with the 22 rifle and I caught a fish. We're having a great time!
